Enge Nachtmarkt

What I impressed by European culture is how eager they are to enjoy being outside. I knew that since I was in Japan. You can see those people occupying terrace seat during winter in only western people:)

This weekend, I touched typical Europen Saturday night. "Nachtmarkt" which is "Night Free Market" has taken place at lake side in the evening.

At "Nachtmarkt" you can enjoy artistic hand made free market, music, food and drink. But the main purpose is "let's enjoy sarturday night outside!".

Starting from 7pm. "Enge" is a "BADI" where people enjoy swimming in the lake during the summer. It closed during the winter but has specially opened for the event this time. We started from checking free market stands.


Free market by lake side,, it is very cool idea. Moreover, most of the stands are all hand-made from own unique idea and was like a small local museum.

Fishing?? Yes, but not fish. Pet bottles:)

After checking market is the time to chill, eat and drink.



Funny to see these Japanese sitting style. Only the difference is whether you have seat with shoes or not. Keeping cushions was quite difficult. Everybody fighting to have one.


No selections for food. The only choice was this cheese pasta. Not bad. My husband ordered a bottle of red wine. CHF40.00.
Chocolate cake was also available.


It was such a cool, unique atmosphere. The lightening effect is good but funny that many people sitting around the floor. But more cozy like this.


DJ changed twice. He was the best who was in this own world and truly enjoying playing!


Soon, it was full of people. When the floor is full, it looks like IZAKAYA in Japan which is casual drinking place. Mixture of IZAKAYA and Lounge? I think this style will be accpeted in Japan as well.

It was a fun Zurich Saturday Night.
